This beginner‑focused programme gives new bartenders the confidence, practical skills, and foundational knowledge needed to work professionally in cocktail bars and events. Through a blend of hands‑on practice, guided tastings, and structured learning, students build a solid understanding of tools, techniques, flavour balance, and classic cocktail construction.

What the Course Covers

  • Knowing Your Environment — An introduction to essential bar tools, glassware, ice types, station setup, and the correct preparation and storage of fresh ingredients. Students learn the fundamentals of a clean, efficient, and safe workspace.

  • Basic Bar Mechanics — Core techniques including accurate measuring, and the four primary cocktail production methods: building, shaking, stirring, and muddling.

  • Mixology & Product Knowledge — A look at the evolution of cocktails, the principles behind balance and authenticity, and the role of creativity in modern bartending. Students taste a range of spirits and liqueurs, exploring both artisan and global brands.

Practical Cocktail Sessions

Learners create and analyse a selection of classic cocktails. Each chosen to demonstrate different spirits, methods, and flavour structures. Workbook sections encourage note‑taking, tasting evaluation, and the development of bespoke recipes.

Outcome

By the end of the course, graduates understand the mechanics, mindset, and craft of cocktail bartending. They leave equipped to step behind a bar with confidence, apply professional standards, and begin developing their own creative approach to mixology.
